Avet Provides Non-U.S. Counterfeit BiCNU Notice
Avet Pharmaceuticals Inc. (“Avet”) recently became aware of the existence of a counterfeit drug product labeled as Carmustine for Injection (“BiCNU®”) 100mg that has been sold and distributed outside of the United States. BiCNU® is primarily used for chemotherapy in the treatment of several types of brain cancer (including glioma, glioblastoma multiforme, medulloblastoma and astrocytoma) and multiple myeloma and lymphoma (Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin). BiCNU® is also sometimes used for immunosuppression before organ transplantation or hematological stem cell transplantation, a type of bone marrow transplant, in order to reduce the white blood cell count in the recipient.
