Job Summary:

The IT Operations Leader will oversee our company’s computer networks, hardware, and software. They will monitor the network infrastructure, resolve system issues, manage IT performance, administer the network, provide end-user support, ensure system security, and comply with data protection regulations. They will manage multiple projects and ensure that our IT systems are reliable and secure.

This role requires collaborating equally with key business leaders to ensure a positive end-to-end user experience. While the immediate focus of the role will be operationally focused, the IT Operations Leader will have an innovative mindset and be a change agent who recognizes opportunities to continuously improve. As the first point of contact, you will be the face of IT for the business and the user community. 


 The IT Operations Lead will focus on building IT capabilities, standards, and operational excellence.

Reporting Relationships                             

  • This is a managerial role overseeing a team of four. 

Essential Functions:

  • To understand and manage the IT landscape i.e. key applications, assets, infrastructure, and services – know where the challenges are and prioritize to resolution.
  • Create and drive strategic roadmaps for Avet’s IT functional capabilities. These include:
    1. Technology, infrastructure, networks, servers, database, and AWS
    2. Incident management: incident response and resolution
    3. Optimize Workflows
  • Oversight for device management, including full lifecycle desktop/laptops and associated tools.   This includes procurement, provisioning, assignment, recovery, and disposal of all software and hardware.
  • Deliver operational stability and security protections.
  • Manage day-to-day vendor relationships.
  • Ensure SLAs and continuous improvement expectations are achieved. 
  • Manage budget and timescales while executing against the IT strategy and driving cost efficiencies.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to IT staff including organizational design, performance, coaching, and salary planning.
  • Build trust and champion a culture that achieves business goals and delights users.
  • Ensure IT compliance and security needs are met.
  • Adhere to all safety and cGMP standards and guidelines, and report unsafe conditions, near misses, and/or injuries in a timely manner.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:                 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in IT Operations with 5+ years in a management role
  • Depth and breadth of End User Computing Technologies
  • Strong vendor/partner/3rd party management 
  • Experience with SAP Software and implementation

1. Overall understanding of the IT strategy and how it supports the business strategy

2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Physical Demands/Factors:

Office roles with minimal physical demands: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; routine bending, walking, lifting, and reaching are required.

Roles with moderate physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.  The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands; talk; and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
